Using LAST NAMES (EXCEPTIONS – SEE NOTES), name the top 10 most famous people in history according to the categories of MIT’s Pantheon Project. Read naming notes below quiz. Location (based on current geography) and year of birth shown. ‘*’ denotes females. Score is based on a number of factors, a major one being popularity of the person on Wikipedia across all languages. The overall ranks will not match up exactly with my other quiz based on the same source as this is a new download and they are constantly changing the rankings. Top 100 Overall category refers to overall list, so it will not have 100 answers as some are 11th or lower in a category.

NOTES: NAMING – Many people with last names have just those accepted. Popes, Kings, Queens, etc who have a name with a Roman Numeral are accepted in the format “Charles XI” for example – you do NOT need the Roman numeral if it’s a “I” – otherwise type the Roman number out..do NOT use 2, 3, etc. Many alternate or simplified names are accepted – i.e. “Alexander of Europe” would allow just “alexander”.

You should accept “Dante” for Dante Alighieri – everyone just calls him “Dante” after all.

Pretty sure most English speaker/spellers would have soccer play #5 as “Cruyff”.
