A brief Video Intro to hugequiz

Intro

hugequiz contains thousands of immersive, data-intensive quizzes across a wide range of subjects. Most quizzes involve typing answers within time limits. This example will guide you through playing a hugequiz.

Example Quiz

We’ll use the 1000 Most Famous People In History quiz as an example. Below is a screenshot of the quiz start screen. It’s a good idea to read the directions for each quiz, especially if you’re new.

For this quiz, you’re naming people—last names are generally accepted on most people-naming quizzes. You can use lowercase letters and skip punctuation like hyphens or spaces. For example, just type martinlutherking without spaces.

The top entries (#1–#50) are blank, and the timer hasn’t started. The “+0:00” under the timer shows bonus time earned for reaching milestones. Any quiz with this label has bonus time available.

The Rank listbox lets you browse all quiz answers. For example, selecting 201–250 shows answers ranked in that range. Before starting, most quizzes display hints in each answer cell. As you type, correct answers will replace those hints, as shown below:

When finished (or if you’re ready to stop), click the ‘End Quiz’ button on the right side in the orange area to save your score.

Most quizzes also include a stats feature showing the percentage of times each answer was guessed correctly. At the bottom of the Rank list are links to:

  • 50 Hardest: Answers you got right that few others did.
  • 50 Missed: Highest-ranked answers you missed (or top answers you skipped in non-ranked quizzes like Oscars Nominations).

Here’s an example of the “50 Missed” screen from the MIT Pantheon quiz:
