You will be told which city to locate - simply double-click on that city's grid square and you will move on to the next city. Each time you go to a new city the squares are randomly redrawn and with a size 10% smaller. The first 10 cities will be 1M+, the next 10 500K-1M, next 10 250-500K and the balance (until you run out of time or guess wrong) will be 100-250K. When you guess wrong the correct location will be shown as a pink marker.

You do get a break if you are within 2 km of the city but in the wrong square – you will not get credit for the guess but will get another chance at that level.

After the quiz is over you can click RESTART to retry it without refreshing the page.

South America 100 Km Expanding Circles Top 3 Challenge – Choose City

First choose any South American 50K+ city by entering it and choosing it in the drop-down box. Then, name the 3 largest South America cities in each 100 km circle/ring as the rings expand outward from your city of choice. The first circle will include your city of choice as a possible answer if it is among the 3 largest in that area. As you enter cities you will see their rank within the current ring (1st, 2nd or 3rd largest) above their marker.

When you run out of time or end the quiz, you will see the current ring's correct answer at right (under 'Answer Stats' by your coordinates).

For example, if you choose 'Buenos Aires' - you will be shown a circle of radius 100 km centered at Buenos Aires. Naming all of the 3 largest 50K+ cities in this circle (Buenos Aires in this case is one) will cause another 'ring' of radius 100 km to appear outside that circle. You now need to name the 3 largest South America cities in that ring (but not within any previous circles/rings). If a city is not within the next ring of that distance, the ring will keep expanding by that distance until at least 1 city falls within it. So if a city doesn't fall within 100-200 km, it will expand to be a 100-300 km ring, then 100-400 km and so on until a qualifying city is found within the ring.

1404

South America 100 Km Expanding Circles Top 5 Challenge – Choose City

First choose any South American 50K+ city by entering it and choosing it in the drop-down box. Then, name the 5 largest South America cities in each 100 km circle/ring as the rings expand outward from your city of choice. As you enter cities you will see their rank within the current ring (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th largest) above their marker.

When you run out of time or end the quiz, you will see the current ring's correct answer at right (under 'Answer Stats' by your coordinates).

For example, if you choose 'Buenos Aires' - you will be shown a circle of radius 100 km centered at Buenos Aires. Naming all of the 5 largest 50K+ cities in this circle (Buenos Aires in this case is one) will cause another 'ring' of radius 100 km to appear outside that circle. South America 50K+ Cities Top 3 Blackout

Fill in the 25 squares with the top three (in terms of population - less if fewer than 3 qualify) South America 50K+ cities based on the categories in the top row and the geographical location given in the cell. For example, if you are looking at a cell with 'Brazil' in its row, and 'Starts With S' in the column, that cell can be filled in with 'Salvador' as it is one of the 3 largest 'S' cities in Brazil. When a cell is completed it fills in green.

Occasionally a cell may not have any qualifying answer, in which case it will be filled in bright green and be a gimme. Cells with two answers left will have a very dark green background, those with one answer left more of an evergreen shade, and finally bright green for those which have been completed. Some cells with only 1 or 2 valid answers will start with a green shade corresponding to how many answers are left.

hugequiz Premium members will see missed answers in red - they will be the largest city which qualified in each cell - only one miss will be shown per incomplete cell.

South America 50K+ City Name Link Challenge

The object of this quiz is to pick a 50K+ South American city to start, then name successive 50K+ South American cities such that the next city's first letter is the last letter of the current city and the next city is as close to the current city as possible. On this quiz alternates are generally accepted, however only the main (usually official) name is counted as it relates to naming the next city. Cities of the same name will answer the closest city first. NOTE: You must type a '.' (period) after the city to submit it. Cities must be a minimum of 10k population. The same city cannot be used twice in this quiz.

For example, you start with 'Brasilia' - you are now trying to name a city starting with 'A' (the last letter of 'Brasilia') which is closest to Brasilia. If you answer 'Aracaju' - now you are trying to name the closest city to Aracaju which starts with a 'U' and so on.

The quiz ends at the 25th city from the starting one. You get 100 points for naming the closest city on each step, and they decline based on the distance your city was from the closest. You get 15 minutes to complete the quiz.
