Words

Type "start" to begin. You will be given a word to type right beneath the typing box. Type the word as fast as you can - when completed the word will change. You begin with words of length 4, then move up to 5-letter words, then 6, and so on. Try to complete as many words in one minute as you can. You will be given sets of 7 letters in alphabetical order. There is one and only one 7-letter word which uses all 7 letters and is in the top 50,000 English words according to the Corpus of Contemporary American English. You get 30 seconds for each of the 20 7-letter scrambled words to find the pangram (7-letter word using all 7 letters). Object is most pangrams correct. There are about 1200 different pangrams from which 20 are chosen at random.

You will be given a string of 7 unique letters. The object is to come up with as many words (based on the official Scrabble player's word list) using only the letters (not necessarily all of them) among those you are given. Time bonuses are given for words of at least 8 letters, with longer words getting longer time bonuses. The string you are given is among the 410 possible strings such that there are at a minimum 1000 possible answers. Example: with 'abelprs' you can make 'pearl', 'able', 'peelers', and so on. The only rule is you cannot use any letters outside of the 7 you've been given. Points are awarded based on the length of the words you form based on the following:

Given the British English word, name the American equivalent.

Name the English heteronyms (also called heterophones), which are words that have different pronunciation and meaning from another word but the same spelling. FYI - some words like 'Polish' or 'Danish' are adjectival and not demonyms and are therefore not accepted. Think of a demonym as having the form 'someone from this country is a _____' where blank is the demonym.
