Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 15-degree grid, hard is a 10-degree grid. The grid will be randomly placed on the map. Then, try to name the largest 50K+ cities in each square IN ORDER. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period).
The squares will start with '0/5' (or maybe fewer cities if less exist in that square). Click on a square and enter the largest city in that square not yet answered (so, the largest city if you have yet to answer a city in that square). You will then have '1/5' and need to click on that square to name the 2nd largest city, and so on until you complete all the cities up to 5 (or less if less exist). If you name an incorrect city in a square it becomes 'locked' and turns red and you can no longer accumulate cities in that square.
You receive 1 point for the largest city in a square, 2 for the 2nd largest, and so on.
At the end of the quiz the largest remaining city you haven't named will be shown in each square.
Muscat doesn’t work
City proper is not 50K+.
Can you accept also Sri Jayawardenepura-Kotte (not just Sri Jayawardenepura) for S? I spelled it as Sri Jayawardenapura-Kotte first, changed the spelling and figured it was not there since it wasn’t accepted
Is there any chance we could have Q, U and X too, even if they are fewer than 100 cities?
It just doesn’t work really, the numbers are so low you are just naming the individual cities.
I’d still enjoy that, but maybe it’s just me 🙂
Then you basically just have this quiz 🙂
https://hugequiz.com/quizzes/world-largest-cities-first-letter-choose-letter/
Ah cool thx! Will try that one 🙂
I would argue it’s still quite different, cause in that quiz you have the cities pinned down and just need to name them, here you have to come up with them as well
Why is Serekunda, Gambia not working for S?
City proper under 50K:
http://citypopulation.de/en/gambia/cities/
But it works for the other coverage quizzes (it’s listed there as 55,360)
OK, I just tested a few of them, Serekunda works for the standard 50K+ coverage, shrinking coverage, closest coverage and is required for the multiword one (as Sere Kunda I guess?), but for some reason it doesn’t work for the latitude/longitude ones although the city is still in there (presumably under another name?)
Ah – this has been fixed (it shouldn’t have worked in any quizzes). Another city was 55,360 but Serekunda was accidentally answering it.
Why doesn’t Guayana City, Venezuela work?
It’s under Ciudad Guayana
What about Erbil, Iraq?
Was under Irbil, I’ll move it to Erbil
Why does charkiv/charkov not work?
It’s Kharkiv
Isfahan?
is under Esfahan, ill change it to Isfahan as I think that’s the more common English spelling
S – 603
Why does Nursultan not work?
it’s been renamed back to Astana
muscat?
city proper is actually under 50k
