US Largest 3+ Words Cities
DirectionsFirst choose the number of cities by typing ’50’, ‘100’, or ‘all’ – then try to achieve the HIGHEST POPULATION among the top US cities of 3+ words you chose. A hyphen can separate words (if they are distinct words, not a hyphenated word). If a city name is used much more commonly than the official name, that is what I chose for naming on this quiz. Some cities will fill in with shortened versions of their names (before 3 words). Quiz is not timed.
So this is how I find out that Lake Worth, FL changed its name to Lake Worth Beach! Very tricky, Floridians.
probably a few more next week…other topics this week.
Also, a few places seem to have slipped into the list: Islamorada, Defuniak Springs, Lower Red Lake (not incorporated), and Castle Pines. South Orange, NJ probably shouldn’t be on here either unless you want to count “Township” for all the NJ townships, in which case a number of towns would be missing. I know you usually count hyphenated names as one, but it seems like Parsippany-Troy Hills might be a reasonable exception to the rule.
Islamorada, Castle Pines are shortened accepted answers to their full names (Castle Pines North, Islamorada Village of Islands) – census lists Defuniak as ‘De Funiak’…South Orange is known as South Orange Village, Lower Red Lake is listed in the census data among cities/village/etc like other incorporated places, don’t know why. I did not include places with ‘Township’ appended to the end. Fixing the ’50’ and ‘100’ issue as well.
