Directions

Choose any 1K+ French city (see naming notes below), then continue naming 1K+ French cities which are within 50km of any previously named city, trying to accumulate the most total cities covered. If you name a city outside a blue circle, the quiz will end.

NAMING NOTES: because of the number of similarly named French cities you must end each city with a ‘.’ and use the full city name, no partial names are accepted – i.e. ‘paris.’ or ‘laseynesurmer.’ (just ‘laseyne.’ is not accepted in this quiz) – also, there are some cities with the exact same names, to choose the one you want simply enter the department name after the city, for example there are multiple ‘Chatillon’ names, to choose the one in Hauts-de-Seine simply type ‘chatillonhautsdeseine.’ – you still need the period.

UK Circle Radius Population Challenge

The object of this quiz is to adjust each circle's radius so it contains the target population shown at the right. When you click Start you will be shown a marker on a random UK output area (there are over 200K output areas - also called Data Zones in Scotland and N Ireland - across the UK, the smallest census tabulation area). Also you will see an adjustable circle of radius 100 km to start. Adjust the circle's radius by dragging it until it contains the target number of people shown - this target will be between 25K and 5 million people. Then click submit. You are scored on how close your circle's population is to the target. Circle population is tallied by totaling all output areas within that circle.

NOTE - This quiz does NOT include any people in Ireland or other countries outside the UK, you are only trying to total the target number of people within the UK.
