US 2nd Largest City Grid Challenge – Choose State

Directions

First choose a state and difficulty by entering the state abbreviation followed by a 1 or 2 – i.e. ‘CA2’. Level 1 is easier with 1-degrees squares, level 2 is 0.5-degree squares. Then, click on a square to choose it and enter the SECOND largest city in each grid square of the size based on your difficulty – answers MUST BE named by typing the city name followed by a period. Only green squares contain answers – others may not have a corresponding place (i.e. no places, all unincorporated).

US City Grid 3rd Largest City Challenge

Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. Then, try to name the THIRD LARGEST city in each grid square. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period). You are given a score from 0 to 100 based on your answer's population compared to the 3rd largest city accepted in that square (100 being you named the 3rd largest city). If you guess the largest city it will be based on the ratio of the 3rd largest city's population to the largest.

The order is represented by the '1st' thru '16th' in each box. You can click on a state to move it to a higher position in the list - simply click once and it will turn red, then clicked another higher-ranked state to position the first state before it. Click submit to check your answers...if they are in order you will get a new state added to the end which needs to be positioned correctly, and so on until you either get one wrong or complete all 15 levels.
