Northeast US Largest Cities
DirectionsFirst choose the number of cities by typing ‘100’, ‘250’, ‘500’ or ‘1k’ – then try to achieve the highest population among the top Northeast US (per the Census Bureau’s definition) cities you chose. Quiz is not timed.
hugequiz Premium users have the option to choose any number of cities to play the quiz with (stats are processed but score isn’t saved). Simply enter #(number of cities)# to play the quiz with any number of cities from 25 to the maximum. For example, to play the 300 largest cities, type #300# to begin the quiz and you will play it with the 300 largest cities. Entering #all# will play it with all cities – all cities will also be chosen for any number chosen above the total.
Is it really so unreasonable to hope to see a quiz where it’s possible to type X number of names and if I get them all, I’d see a number that at least approximates the urban population? Or failing that, that the places in the quiz would at least roughly correspond to a satellite view of the area?
Unlike those states where a majority of the population chooses to live in unincorporated places that aren’t even named, the fact is all 13 million people in PA and all 19.5 million in NY live in municipalities that have both names and legal status.
Now it’s true that some do confusingly live in places known by two or more names (no thanks to the post office and census bureau). But IMHO that’s not a good reason to exclude any and all names these places may have. Doing so makes it seem as though nobody lives there at all.
The easiest solution would be to stick with the municipality name (i.e. “townships” in PA and “villages” in NY), just like you’ve already done in NJ and the rest of New England.
