Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. The grid will be randomly placed on the map. Then, try to name the largest cities in each square IN ORDER. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period).
The squares will start with '0/5' (or maybe fewer cities if less exist in that square). Click on a square and enter the largest city in that square not yet answered (so, the largest city if you have yet to answer a city in that square). You will then have '1/5' and need to click on that square to name the 2nd largest city, and so on until you complete all the cities up to 5 (or less if less exist). If you name an incorrect city in a square it becomes 'locked' and turns red and you can no longer accumulate cities in that square.
You receive 1 point for the largest city in a square, 2 for the 2nd largest, and so on.
AK and HI are NOT included in this quiz.
At the end of the quiz the largest remaining city you haven't named will be shown in each square.

I have searched high and low for whatever #43 on the I-80 quiz is supposed to be – supposedly a city of 107k near the same longitude as Dublin/Pleasanton, San Jose, Milpitas, and in between Vacaville and Dixon. I have drawn lines on maps, looked at city limits overlays, and guessed everything I can find or think of … what am I missing?
Burbank.
Burbank is roughly 315 miles from the nearest instance of an I-80 offshoot
… and is also nowhere near that longitude …
but I think I see the confusion – there is a CDP called Burbank in Santa Clara County. It very much does not have 107k people in it though!

Why is Indianapolis not counted in the I-65 quiz? I-65 and I-70 both go through Indy in the same spot. It should definitely count for I-65.
Toquerville, UT isn’t exactly on I-15…unless its borders extend to I-15…

Why isn’t there southern I-87? Here are the cities for I-87 southern:

We should have a choice between the two I-87’s, as well as 88, 76, 86, and 84.
I see that some CDPs were removed from the quizzes, because, of course, CDPs are not to be allowed in any quiz that is not specifically for them, right?
I daresay CDPs do not actually exist, and any people that you might meet from time to time that claim to be from those places are suffering from mass delusions. Truly, you do the Lord’s work by ensuring that knowledge of such non-places can never be rewarded.
Anyway, I had a question. Are you going to adjust the high scores for anyone who currently has a total higher than the current number of cities for a given interstate so that their total doesn’t exceed 100%? Otherwise, I don’t see much incentive in playing some quizzes, because even if I got everything the quiz offers, my score will still be lower than someone who played before 11/2023.
Yeah I can adjust high scores downward – let me know of interstates where this is the case.
Murfreesboro, TN does not intersect I-40 at all, It is miles away. Also If a city has the same name in a couple of states, is it only listed once? and which one is it – the first one from west or south or the largest?
Murfreesboro city limits do include 840 (which per directions is included as part of I-40). If multiple cities of the same name are in a state they are both included at their correct positions.
At least for 95, it’s very arbitrary as to what kinds of municipalities you accept. Like you accept some boroughs in NJ, but not some. Some towns in CT, but not some.
My cities quizzes generally don’t include towns except some northeast states like CT, similar to boroughs – it depends on if they function similar to a city in that particular state or not.
Ok I’ve changed this quiz as I was able to do it so a city is included only if the city’s boundary intersects with the highway (rather than based on population like before) – therefore many of the totals have changed a bit, so I reset all the scores and stats as many wouldn’t make sense anymore.
Ah, California… I find it funny how there’s an entire quiz for “I-38” without there actually being an I-38.
