Brazil City Longitude Grid
DirectionsChoose a level by typing ‘beg’, ‘int’, ‘adv’, or ‘exp’ – then name the largest Brazilian city among major (approx 20K+ population) cities within each longitude range. Beg level is 2 degree width, Int is 1 degrees, Adv 0.5 degrees, and Exp is 0.25 degrees.
hugequiz Premium members will see the 25 largest missed cities at the end of the quiz as large, purple markers.
This quiz has the same issue that the Brazil city grid quizzes had – some urban districts are counted as cities (e.g. Coxipo da Ponte for the major city of Cuiaba)
I’ve figured out the problem from the source: https://citypopulation.de/en/brazil/matogrosso/
There’s two separate dropdown lists on this website. First is a section of “municipalities” and second is a section of “municipal districts”. Municipalities should be used for the BR quizzes and municipal districts should be excluded. If that works you could also redo the Brazil city grid quizzes without the 20k population limit? Thanks for looking into this
yeah i’ll switch this one to major cities.
The “municipalities” section on the page I linked actually contains all municipalities including those below 20k, I think that might be a better source for Brazil than the “major cities” dataset on the site
I want to stick to the cities on the site as they calculate the populations a little differently than they do the corresponding municipalities.
