Directions

First choose a difficulty by typing ‘beg’, ‘int’, ‘adv, or ‘exp’ – Beginner is 2 degrees longitude, Intermediate 1 degrees, Advanced 0.5 degrees, and Expert 0.25 degrees. Then, enter 10K+ population cities (see NAMING NOTE below) and all 10K+ population cities within that longitude will automatically fill in.

HOWEVER – for this quiz you can enter any 10K+ city for your first choice, but successive cities must be already within a blue band for you to answer them, so you must ‘expand’ the blue area in the east and west directions, you can’t start a new blue band with a gap away from a currently blue shaded area.

UK Circle Radius Population Challenge

The object of this quiz is to adjust each circle's radius so it contains the target population shown at the right. When you click Start you will be shown a marker on a random UK output area (there are over 200K output areas - also called Data Zones in Scotland and N Ireland - across the UK, the smallest census tabulation area). POPULATION RANGE: (such as 250-500K) means the city has that range for its population.
2+ WORDS means the city name has 2 or more words (words denoted by a space or hyphen).

At the end of the quiz the largest population missed answer will show in each range.

has there been a change in total cities recently? i dont think i named all possible cities (stopped at chelyabinsk) but im at the top of the leaderboard at the moment

Yep cities are updated in real time when new updates are put up on citypopulation.de

you need to name cities already contained within blue bands – per directions.
