First choose any Europe 10K+ pop city by entering it and choosing it in the drop-down box. Then, name any Europe 10K+ city in each 100 km circle/ring as the rings expand outward from your city of choice, trying to name SECOND LARGEST city in each circle. The first circle will include your city of choice as a possible answer.
PLEASE NOTE - You must type a '.' (period) after each city to submit it to prevent answering another city with a name you would be have to type to get your answer. If multiple cities have the name you submitted, only the largest one will be counted.
You accumulate points based on the population of the city you named in relation to the second largest city in the circle. A smaller city’s point total will be the ratio of its population to the largest, so if you name a city of 75K people and the largest city has 100K, you get 75 points. Naming the largest city will get you points based on the ratio of the 2nd largest city's population to the largest city's.
When you run out of time or end the quiz, you will see the current ring’s 2nd largest city at right (under ‘Answer Stats’ by your coordinates).
For example, if you choose ‘Paris’ – you will be shown a circle of radius 100 km centered at Paris. Naming any city in this circle (including Paris) will cause another ‘ring’ of radius 100 km to appear outside that circle, however - you will want to try naming the SECOND LARGEST city you can to get more points. After completing that circle, you now need to name any 10K+ Europe city in the new ring (but not within any previous circles/rings), again trying to name the 2nd largest city. If there are not two cities within the next ring of that distance, the ring will keep expanding by that distance until two cities fall within it.

Where does the spelling for Kalyvia Thorikou to Kalivia Thoriku come from? To me its neither the common spelling in English or in Greek, and Citypopulation doesnt show any alternate spellings on its pages.

Many of the biggest Polish cities like “łódź” “Wrocław” “Gdańsk” not working.
Working for me – make sure it’s the biggest city in the square you are trying to answer…only the largest city in each square is an answer.

The Russian city of “Sirius” (as it is saved in-game) appears as “Adler” on both English and German Google Maps. I have found that a part of Adler is called Sirius, as there are a lot of places with Sirius there. However, it is within city borders of Adler still
I think per http://citypopulation.de/en/russia/places/krasnodar/03731__sirius/ the Russian census considers it as Sirius.
all of that coast area (Adler etc.) is part of Sochi, it’s a very long city
however Sirius became a separate town recently (in 2020)

Why can’t I see all missed cities as a premium user but only the biggest 25?
none of my quizzes show all missed answers, there’s always a limit (unless you have fewer missed answers than the limit in which case you see them all). it lessens cheating and encourages replays.
Why do cities in this quiz have different population counts compared to other quizes? For example Amsterdam in this quiz has 872757, but on world 50K+ city coverage quiz it has 1114745. Is it because on 50K+ city quizes you are including 10-50K population suburbs?
i changed how the Dutch cities were totaled – will be updating it in the Europe quizzes before long.
London for instance is also different: it shows up as 8992166 in this quiz, but in the world 50k+ city coverage it is 9088994. I haven’t looked at other cities, I just noticed these 2. I presume this change also affected the UK?

What is the largest city in the northern coast of lake Ladoga between Impilahti and Vitele? I typed Pitkäranta which is the only city above 10k population in the square but it didn’t work. The name of the city should be the same in Russian and Finnish.

For the “Benelux” square, the answer was Brussels. This is incorrect as Amsterdam has more than double the population.
Amsterdam city proper is a bit less than Brussels. Urban area maybe, but all my city quizzes use city proper populations based on citypopulation.de figures.

How is it showing Oslo and Copenhagen population over 1million but not Helsinki. These are all pretty similar size cities… Obviously using the metro population for Oslo and Copenhagen but only city proper for Helsinki… Smh.
city populations are from citypopulation.de…countries have different ways of defining what they count as a city and different ways of counting populations for larger ones…Denmark and Norway tabulate totals for “urban areas”
