7/26/2017 – Hi again – I’m looking to hopefully by the end of August begin redoing the site with a fresh look and new features, hopefully to be done sometime before the end of September. This includes a new design, appearance, scorekeeping (hopefully with live leaderboards) and more. Keep an eye out! Also I will be removing the Flash quizzes and geography quizzes that aren’t using Google Maps by then (remaking some of them after the remodel) to make the site more clean and organized.
Play A Random Geography Quizzes Quiz

First choose a country and level by typing the country’s first three letters (English spelling) then ‘1’ or ‘2’ – i.e. ‘GER1’ – NOTE: use ‘GBR’ for the UK, ‘SLK’ for Slovakia, ‘SLV’ for Slovenia, and ‘BLG’ for Belgium. Level 1 is easier, with a 1 degree grid. Level 2 has a 0.5 degree grid. Then name the largest 10K+ place in each grid square. Areas which are blank do not contain a place that qualifies (no places of 10K population). You get more time for countries/levels with more answers. Any country with more than one 10K+ city is included in this quiz.

Darin, may I suggest that on the labels you show the guessed city instead of the population? It’s much more useful.

Had a go at Moldova and a box at the bottom left came up (in Romania). There must have been a city there (as I had three left and there were three boxes).

For Germany: What is the coordinate for Halle? Because it looks like it should be the largest city for the 11-12 E, 51-52 N grid square. More specifically it’s close to the 12 E longitude, but pretty much entirely west of it.

my coordinates has it at exactly 12 E, so it would be part of the adjacent square. i’m using coordinates mostly from Geonames, obviously these can vary slightly depending on the source.

For Finland: Nastola seems to be situated more northward than Lahti. However Lahti should be a bit more northward (~60°59′N) than Nastola (~60°57’N). Also, should there be a Grid Genius badge for completing the FIN2 (73 squares) in this quiz?

fixing that coordinate – yeah was an error with the badge code, i’ve fixed that now and will award you the badge manually.
