7/26/2017 – Hi again – I’m looking to hopefully by the end of August begin redoing the site with a fresh look and new features, hopefully to be done sometime before the end of September. This includes a new design, appearance, scorekeeping (hopefully with live leaderboards) and more. Keep an eye out! Also I will be removing the Flash quizzes and geography quizzes that aren’t using Google Maps by then (remaking some of them after the remodel) to make the site more clean and organized.

NAMING NOTES – A handful of cities have the same names or must be entered to enter a longer city name…enter the city name followed by state abbreviation for these (i.e. ‘springfieldmo’ or ‘wichitaks’ (due to Wichita Falls, TX)). Therefore if a city isn’t working add the state abbr to the end of it, as it has one of these conflicts.

Are the city populations based on “hard” 2010 census data? If so, this causes problems when researching the populations of rapidly growing southern (Texas) suburbs s/a Cedar Park, TX which has grown to 59,200 by 2013 estimates.

Yes, they’re based on the 2010 census data. Do you mean 2012 estimate? The 2013 estimates won’t be released until May this year.

The scoreboard for this quiz appears all messed up on my computer. Nobody complained yet so I don’t know if its only me…

Okay, the 2010 Census data is really throwing me off. San Marcos, TX has 54K people as of 2013, but the 2010 census gave it only 45K people. This is a particular problem since there is also a San Marcos in California, and I was taking a nice jaunt down I-35 in Texas when I involuntarily ended up in California.

This quiz has stopped working for me. The cities show up, but neither the population nor the distance ever updates from zero. Same thing in both Firefox and Chrome.
