Directions

First choose a state and level by typing the state’s abbreviation then ‘1’, ‘2’, or ‘3’ – i.e. ‘TX2’. Level 1 is easier, with a 1 degree grid. Level 2 has a 0.5 degree grid, and Level 3 a 0.25 degree grid. Name any place in each grid square. Areas which are blank do not contain a place that qualifies (no places, only unincorporated places, etc). You get more time for larger states and higher levels.

When you click Start you will be shown a marker on a random Canada dissemination area (there are over 55K dissemination areas across Canada, the smallest census tabulation area). Also you will see an adjustable circle of radius 100 km to start. Adjust the circle's radius by dragging it until it contains the target number of people shown - this target will be between 10K and 5 million people. Then click submit. You are scored on how close your circle's population is to the target. Circle population is tallied by totaling all output areas within that circle.

Adjust the circle's radius by dragging it until it contains the target number of people shown - this target will be between 100K and 25 million people. Then click submit. You are scored on how close your circle's population is to the target. Circle population is tallied by totaling all census tracts (small census areas of average 4K population) within that circle.

NOTE - population in Canada and Mexico is NOT counted at all, only US population within the circle.

On CT3, is there 28 or 29 squares?

on PA2 you have Bellefonte as the answer rather than the much larger college town that occupies the same square (~41,983)

This is the ‘All Cities’ grid quiz variation, so any city in each square will take.
