Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. A random grid will be placed on the map. Then, try to name the THIRD LARGEST city in each grid square. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period). You are given a score from 0 to 100 based on your answer's population compared to the 3rd largest city accepted in that square (100 being you named the 3rd largest city). If you guess the largest city it will be based on the ratio of the 3rd largest city's population to the largest.
AK and HI are NOT included in this quiz as they often have grid squares with only one answer for this quiz.
At the end of the quiz the 3rd largest city will show in each unanswered square, and for those answered the 3rd largest city will be listed next to your score if you didn't answer it.
The advanced level needs to be updated, since Eugene is now larger than Salem, Roy is bigger than Syracuse, and Herriman is bigger than Eagle Mountain. It says it was last updated in 2015, 11 YEARS AGO!
The quiz was always live – I changed that now so it states that. And now of those population comparisons is true, according to most recent estimates on citypopulation.de.
When I ended an untimed int quiz, the results never displayed and I was left instead with the message “Calculating stats…”
I’ll take a look and see if I can figure out the issue.
What is supposed to go into the Alabama Square on Beginner? Its neither Birmingham nor Atlanta, Montgomery, Mobile, Tallahassee, Auburn, Tuscaloosa, Hoover, Huntsville, Pensacola….???
it’s Huntsville. just worked for me.
I hate Alaska!
Personally… I enjoy obscure, barren wasteland.
