Choose a number of cities by typing ‘3’, ‘5’, or ’10’. Then, enter the largest number of US cities you chose in each 2-degree latitude range. Only green ranges contain answers. When you have 2 left to go in a range it will fill in faintly yellow, 1 left it will be orangish, and all done it turns red. A time bonus is given for completing a square (it is greater for higher levels).

You are scored on how close your circle's population is to the target. Circle population is tallied by totaling all census tracts (small census areas of average 4K population) within that circle.

US City Grid Blackout – Choose State

First choose a state by typing its abbreviation. A grid will then be placed over the state, larger states will generally have larger grid squares. Then, name any city from your chosen state in each grid square which fits the category label for each square.

LETTER: means the city starts with that letter.
NUMBER RANGE: (such as 2-5, 10+) means the city contains that many letters (excluding spaces and special characters).
POPULATION RANGE: (such as 50-100K) means the city has that range for its population.
2+ WORDS means the city name has 2 or more words (words denoted by a space or hyphen).

At the end of the quiz the largest population missed answer will show in each square.

I love these quizzes. My only suggestion would be to offer them in formats limited to the contiguous United States. Alaska and Hawaii have so many obscure localities; I think it would be helpful to have some that are limited to the “lower 48.”
