Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 15-degree grid, hard is a 10-degree grid. Then, try to name the largest 50K+ cities in each square IN ORDER. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period).
The squares will start with '0/5' (or maybe fewer cities if less exist in that square). Click on a square and enter the largest city in that square not yet answered (so, the largest city if you have yet to answer a city in that square). You will then have '1/5' and need to click on that square to name the 2nd largest city, and so on until you complete all the cities up to 5 (or less if less exist). If you name an incorrect city in a square it becomes 'locked' and turns red and you can no longer accumulate cities in that square.
You receive 1 point for the largest city in a square, 2 for the 2nd largest, and so on.
At the end of the quiz the largest remaining city you haven't named will be shown in each square.
What about a version of this quiz but with 100 random cities, perhaps with different difficulty settings such as above 500k population, 250k population, 100k population and 50k population?
It could be fun to have a more difficult version of this where the map is a blank map with country outlines only, rather than this map which allows you to pinpoint many large cities through a combination of satellite view and roads.
Point scale is ridicoulous.
You can click in the city and get less than 90 point, because the marker is placed in a different location.
Had 2 guesses of 0 km deviation from the marker and still only 99 points. I can’t know where you put the marker.
Should be 100 points for at least within 10 km of the marker, as the position of the marker is quite random. And you’re likely to have clicked somewhere in the city, if you were within 10 km.
Also theree should be more points for just being somewhat close. Getting less than 50 point, while feeling like you were in the general area of the country is very demotivating.
Could be fun if the point scale was not so frustrating.
Yeah I’ve just updated all the locator quizzes with a better point scale, much like how Geoguessr’s points work. Demands a little more accuracy on quizzes with states or countries, and a little more leeway for large continent and world-sized quizzes.
Need more time. I couldn’t even get through the full list without time running out
added a few min.
How do I start? :S
you should see a city name to double click on its location..if not refresh the quiz
