World 100 Km Expanding Circles Any City Distance Challenge – Choose City
DirectionsFirst choose any World 50K+ city by entering it and choosing it in the drop-down box. Then, name any World 50K+ city in each 100 km circle/ring as the rings expand outward from your city of choice – NOTE – you must enter a period ‘.’ at the end of the city to submit it. The first circle will include your city of choice as guessed. The object in this quiz is to guess the city in the next ring which is as close to the previous city as possible. The closest city will get you 100 points, the farthest away answer, 0 points.
When you run out of time or end the quiz, you will see the current ring’s closest correct answer at right.
For example, if you choose ‘Paris, France’ – you will be shown a circle of radius 100 km centered at Paris and Paris will be selected. You will also see a ring of radius 100 km outside that circle. Naming a city in this ring will cause another ‘ring’ of radius 100 km to appear outside that ring and you will get 0-100 points, depending how close to Paris your city was. If a city is not within the next ring of that distance, the ring will keep expanding by that distance until a city falls within it. So if a city doesn’t fall within 100-200 kms, it will expand to be a 100-300 km ring, then 100-400 km and so on until a qualifying city is found within the ring.

New type of expanding circles – let me know your thoughts/issues.
Any chance there will be a 200km version of this?
Just added.
Thank you!
if you start in anchorage it dosent let u go past it please fix this
Hmm, yeah… based on the other expanding circles I’d expect it to expand to a huge circle including the next valid answer. Which is what, Prince George? Nanaimo?
@darin
This seems to be a particular feature of the start of game logic. Easiest way to see it’s only the first circle: Pick a location in New Zealand. You’ll see a huge band once your range gets past the NZ cities, something like 600-1000 km for Noumea.
I’ve noticed beginning of game behavior in Expanding Circles is different in another way, too: If you don’t get a single answer right, you never find out the “next” (first) answer, which is frustrating.
This has been fixed – you may have to reload the quiz and hold CTRL when clicking refresh or clear your cache beforehand.
Fun! If you want to have a version that’s less just for us sicko’s, you could add the option to skip a ring for -100 points.
