Directions

Choose a level by typing ‘beg’, ‘int’, ‘adv’, or ‘exp’ – beg level is 15 degree squares, int 10 degrees, adv 5 degree, and exp 2.5 degrees. Then, name any 50K+ World city to start with by entering it (cities with the same name will choose the largest city of that name first). The grid square you are starting in will turn yellow – you now must name any city in any one of the adjacent grid squares (not including diagonal) – so any grid square directly north, south, east or west of the yellow one. Naming a city in one of these squares will turn your original square red and the current newly named city square yellow – continue in the same way trying to make a path of as many squares as you can. You are not allowed to return to a red square, and if you get ‘boxed in’ with no squares left to complete the quiz will also end.

Be aware that as you name cities it will answer the largest city first, so if you are trying to answer a city in a square to the east but a larger city of that name occurs a square to the north, the north one will be answered.

PLEASE NOTE: You get TWO separate ‘paths’ to create – one within the Americas and one within Europe/Africa/Asia/Oceania. You can start on either side and hop over to the other side whenever, in which case you will have 2 yellow squares to continue paths on.

Obviously, due to the layout and separation of squares it will be impossible to complete all of them.

World City Random Grid 1st-5th Largest City Challenge

Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. A grid will be placed randomly on the map. Then, try to name the 1st-5th largest city in each square (min population 50K), depending on what the square label displays (so if the label says '3rd Largest' you are trying to name the 3rd largest city in that square). To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period). You are given a score from 0 to 100 based on your answer's population compared to the target city accepted in that square (100 being you named the correct city).

At the end of the quiz the target city will show in each unanswered square.

World Enclaves & Exclaves Identifier

You will be shown a map with red markers for world national enclaves and exclaves (including semi-enclaves/semi-exclaves and a few pene-enclaves/exclaves). Double-click on the one specified to answer it. If you click on the correct answer, the marker will turn green. Otherwise no change will be made to the markers.

Note – you may want to zoom in if markers are close to one another to make sure you are clicking on the correct one.

If the red markers do not appear when the quiz is loaded, try refreshing the page.

World City Random Grid 3rd Largest City Challenge

Then, try to name the THIRD LARGEST World 50K+ city in each grid square. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period). You are given a score from 0 to 100 based on your answer's population compared to the 3nd largest city accepted in that square (100 being you named the 3nd largest city). If you guess the largest city it will be based on the ratio of the 3nd largest city's population to the largest.

At the end of the quiz the 3nd largest city will show in each unanswered square, and for those answered the 3nd largest city will be listed next to your score if you didn't answer it.

I recommend starting in Honolulu instead. Super easy starting location and makes the game go by very quickly.
