World Administrative Divisions
DirectionsName the world country first order (state, province) administrative divisions. You will have to be pretty exact naming these divisions, and this quiz will not be up to date for all countries – it depends on how often the source (Natural Earth) updates their data and boundaries. The countries counter on the right side is over 197 as a few categories such as Disputed are not part of any country.
Quiz will take a few moments to load all the boundaries – zooming in/out may be slightly slow.

Per directions – not all countries will be totally current on this quiz, and you need to be accurate naming the admin divisions – I won’t be adding many alternates unless something is a glaring omission. I will not be updating countries as it’s too much work, so hopefully every so often the source will update and I can reupload the quiz data.
Does China include Hong Kong’s divisions?
Got finish France. Got all the communes and islands, but it doesnt say FRA completed. What Im I missing?
Having named all but 10 locations, I noticed a lot about this quiz.
Sometimes the name of a location will be a small town within that division but neither the biggest city nor the name of the division itself, though this is only the case about 5 times.
Many places have many different spellings because of translations, try alternate but intuitive spellings if you’re stuck.
The place you’re missing in Cuba is USNB, Guantanamo Bay.
If you can’t finish Denmark, you’re probably missing Pituffik Space Base in Greenland.
A few places in Vietnam are not the name of the division itself but the name of the region within Vietnam, a couple are in English and a couple are in Vietnamese
If you can remember any of these that need fixing or alternate answers let me know.
Hi cant seem to get all of Cuba divisions, I noted 16 but it doesnt indicate Cuba is complete

puerto rico, guam, northern mariana islands, and all states
all of the us minor outlying island subdivisions (i think?)
and it still says usa isnt complete.

Yemen: Aden
Greece: Central Macedonia, Thessaly
Russia: Mari El, Chukotka, Sakha
UK: Guernsey
Algeria: Tamanrasset
Papua New Guinea: Bougainville
United Arab Emirates: Dubai, Fujairah
the bit of Kashmir that is occupied by China: Aksai Chin
There is also a weird area between the UAE and Oman that I don’t think is an actual subdivision, but prevents completing the UAE.
I tried to input those as alternatives – but my hands are tied a little on this quiz due to the source file’s formatting.
I can’t seem to get the U.S. Virgin Islands to work; I tried several different iterations and spellings. Thanks again for all your hard work! This is another new one I’m excited to try : )
You need to name the 3 separate islands, also St. doesn’t work, you need to write Saint.

I can not for the life of me figure out what the answer is supposed to be for the main island of the Comoros. I’ve tried tons of spellings.

Why did you put departments for France and provinces for Spain and Italy, and the counties for the UK?
That’s how the source has it. And some countries have multiple divisions that can be considered first level.
