Name the 10 largest cities in each elevation range. Elevations are based on the Google Elevation API using the coordinates of the city used on my cities quizzes. Obviously cities can span a good amount of elevation but I am using the elevation at the point of the city coordinate.

World City Grid 2nd Largest City Challenge

Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 15-degree grid, hard is a 10-degree grid. Then, try to name the SECOND LARGEST city in each grid square. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period). You are given a score from 0 to 100 based on your answer's population compared to the 2nd largest city accepted in that square (100 being you named the 2nd largest city). If you guess the largest city it will be based on the ratio of the 2nd largest city's population to the largest.

At the end of the quiz the 2nd largest city will show in each unanswered square, and for those answered the 2nd largest city will be listed next to your score if you didn't answer it.

World 50K+ City Random Grid Blackout

Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 15-degree grid, hard is a 10-degree grid. Then, name any 50K+ World city in each grid square which fits the category label for each square. Grid will be randomly placed each time the quiz is played.

LETTER: means the city starts with that letter.
NUMBER RANGE: (such as 2-5, 10+) means the city contains that many letters (excluding spaces and special characters).
POPULATION RANGE: (such as 250-500K) means the city has that range for its population.
2+ WORDS means the city name has 2 or more words (words denoted by a space or hyphen).

At the end of the quiz the largest population missed answer will show in each square.

According to the source no, and it’s not an average it’s the elevation at the coordinate I use for my city quizzes.

Why are cities like tokyo, new york, london etc. not accepted? They are definitely among the largest cities?

They are but not among the largest in their elevation ranges – remember on my site populations are city proper not whole metro area.

Not by city proper population. My quizzes use city proper, per the figures on citypopulation.de.
