Are you not counting Keriya? It says it has 75k people on citypopulation, although it is listed as county but the actual county has a population of 257k so it seems like it’s just the city part in the 75k?

If you enter a province it clearly states ”The urban population of all cities and counties by census years if it exceeds (number depending on Province) inhabitants.” the number for these align with the population numbers on this website.
You’re using urban area for population data but city propers to decide if they exist or not. Like nothing else is allowed to exist within Chongqing’s Austria sized territory but the population is listed as 9.6 million instead of 32.1 million.
Citypopulation themselves clearly has no issue listing cities in Chongqing. They have Major Cities in bold letters featuring Chongqing and 9 other cities over 500k people up to Wànzhōu which has over 1 million. These other cities and many more are listed as city districts and should thus be included in Chongqing’s population if they are not gonna get their own entries.
If you’re gonna use urban area to define population shouldn’t that also be the qualification?
Yeah I do have anything listed as a major city or city as a data point for my quizzes, but not counties. I don’t know where the 257k and 75k come from but I try to stick only with areas considered cities on citypopulation. Otherwise I have to go thru every county and don’t know what the actual city vs county population is.
Everything on the Major Cities & Prefectural Division should be urban population. The other categories doesn’t seem to be any less accurate than the cities. The actual county population is in the Counties & Districts section.
And the title for the list is simply Cities so

I live in Beijing, and yet there is one square in China that I could never figure out how to get even on beginner. I just figured out why – there’s a city that I know as “Hami” (it’s a fairly well-known city, at least in China) and that is called “Kumul” in this quiz. I think the quiz should accept either one.
