Australia State/Territory Drawing Challenge

Directions

You’ll be freehand drawing the states/territories of Australia except Tasmania (as it’s just tracing an island). When the quiz loads on the right side you will be told which state/terr to draw. To begin drawing, click Draw or right-click anywhere in the map to enter drawing mode. Click and drag the mouse to make an outline. Release the mouse to ‘close’ and it will appear green. If happy and ready to submit, click submit or double-click the drawn state/terr. Click erase or right-click the state/terr to erase it and try again. You may have to wait a few moments for your score to calculate on larger state/terr.

You are only drawing the main portion of each state/terr – do not worry about any disjointed islands, etc.

When you submit an area you are scored on the % of your state/terr which contains the actual state/terr (shown as ‘% In State/Terr’) and the % of the actual area contained in your state/terr (shown as ‘% Of State/Terr’). These average out to create your points for that state/terr.

Australia Circle Radius Population Challenge

The object of this quiz is to adjust each circle's radius so it contains the target population shown at the right. When you click Start you will be shown a marker on a random Australia mesh block area (there are over 350K mesh blocks across Australia, the smallest census tabulation area). Also you will see an adjustable circle of radius 100 km to start. Adjust the circle's radius by dragging it until it contains the target number of people shown - this target will be between 25K and 5 million people. Then click submit. You are scored on how close your circle's population is to the target. Circle population is tallied by totaling all output areas within that circle.

Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. Then, name any Australian city in each grid square which fits the category label for each square.

LETTER: means the city starts with that letter.
NUMBER RANGE: (such as 2-5, 10+) means the city contains that many letters (excluding spaces and special characters).
POPULATION RANGE: (such as 250-500K) means the city has that range for its population.
2+ WORDS means the city name has 2 or more words (words denoted by a space or hyphen).

At the end of the quiz the largest population missed answer will show in each square.

Australia Cities Population Guessing Challenge

Upon clicking START you'll be shown a Australia city and a population slider below it. Move the slider to the city's population and click SUBMIT. You'll get a score from 0 to 100 based on how accurate your guess was. Complete 20 random cities from among the 100 largest Australian cities to end the quiz.

This should include Jervis Bay Territory since it includes Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory (ACT)

Yeah I don’t think the data had an outline of Jervis Bay though.

I don’t include islands on drawing quizzes as it’s simply tracing an island 🙂
