Brazil Cities Grid Identifier Challenge

The object of this quiz is to double-click the grid square where cities are located (the centroid of the city is used). When you begin you will have a grid randomly placed with size 5 degrees latitude by 5 degrees longitude. You will be told which city to locate - simply double-click on that city's grid square and you will move on to the next city. Each time you go to a new city the squares are randomly redrawn and with a size 10% smaller. The first 10 cities will be 1M+, the next 10 500K-1M, next 10 250-500K and the balance (until you run out of time or guess wrong) will be 100-250K. When you guess wrong the correct location will be shown as a pink marker.

You do get a break if you are within 2 km of the city but in the wrong square – you will not get credit for the guess but will get another chance at that level.

After the quiz is over you can click RESTART to retry it without refreshing the page.

Brazil Cities Locator Streak Challenge

The object of this quiz is to locate as many of the top Brazilian cities in a row you can without going over the maximum allowable distance away. The max distance allowed is 25 km for 500K+ cities and 10 km otherwise. Double-click to locate each city in order of population. If you are under the max distance allowed you will move on to the next city. When you double-click farther away than the max distance allowed the quiz will end.

Brazil City Grid 2nd Largest City Challenge

Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. Then, try to name the SECOND LARGEST Brazil city in each grid square. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period). You are given a score from 0 to 100 based on your answer's population compared to the 2nd largest city accepted in that square (100 being you named the 2nd largest city). If you guess the largest city it will be based on the ratio of the 2nd largest city's population to the largest.

At the end of the quiz the 2nd largest city will show in each unanswered square, and for those answered the 2nd largest city will be listed next to your score if you didn't answer it.

South America 100 Km Expanding Circles Top 3 Challenge – Choose City

First choose any South American 50K+ city by entering it and choosing it in the drop-down box. Then, name the 3 largest South America cities in each 100 km circle/ring as the rings expand outward from your city of choice. The first circle will include your city of choice as a possible answer if it is among the 3 largest in that area. As you enter cities you will see their rank within the current ring (1st, 2nd or 3rd largest) above their marker.

When you run out of time or end the quiz, you will see the current ring's correct answer at right (under 'Answer Stats' by your coordinates).

For example, if you choose 'Buenos Aires' - you will be shown a circle of radius 100 km centered at Buenos Aires. Naming all of the 3 largest 50K+ cities in this circle (Buenos Aires in this case is one) will cause another 'ring' of radius 100 km to appear outside that circle. You now need to name the 3 largest South America cities in that ring (but not within any previous circles/rings). If a city is not within the next ring of that distance, the ring will keep expanding by that distance until at least 1 city falls within it. So if a city doesn't fall within 100-200 km, it will expand to be a 100-300 km ring, then 100-400 km and so on until a qualifying city is found within the ring.

South America 50 Km Expanding Circles Challenge – Choose City

First choose any South America 50K+ city by entering it and choosing it in the drop-down box. Then, name the largest 50K+ South America city in each 50km circle/ring as the rings expand outward from your city of choice. The first circle will include your city of choice as a possible answer if it is the largest 50K+ city in that area.

You now need to name the largest 50K+ South American city in that ring (but not within any previous circles/rings). The object of this quiz is to pick a 50K+ South American city to start, then name successive 50K+ South American cities such that the next city's first letter is the last letter of the current city and the next city is as close to the current city as possible.
