Grid

First choose a city from among approximately 50 large US cities by entering it and choosing from the drop-down list. A grid will be placed on the map covering that city. Then, double click on the grid square with the highest population within it (based on US census block information). The highest-population remaining square will give you 100 points, all the way down to 0 for the one with the smallest population. Try to obtain the most points by successively double-clicking on the highest-populated grid square.

PLEASE NOTE: The actual city limits may only cover a small portion of the grid square - so you may have squares with many people in them however those people are NOT in the city limits of the city you chose, so they don't count.

First choose a difficulty by typing ‘beg’, ‘int’, ‘adv, or ‘exp’ – Beginner is 5 degrees, Intermediate 2.5 degrees, Advanced 1 degrees, and Expert 0.5 degrees. Then, try to enter the smallest US cities in each grid square of the size based on your difficulty. Green squares contain answers. Adv and Exp levels may take a few moments to load.

PLEASE NOTE - You must type a '.' (period) after each city to submit it to prevent answering another city with a name you would be have to type to get your answer. If multiple cities have the name you submitted, only the smallest one will be counted.

You accumulate points based on the population of the city you named according to the following scale:
0 - 999 - 10 pts
1K - 4,999 - 8 pts
5K - 9,999 - 6 pts
10K - 24,999 - 4 pts
25K - 49,999 - 3 pts
50K - 99,999 - 2 pts
100K+ - 1 pt

Naming a city in one of these squares will turn your original square red and the current newly named city square yellow - continue in the same way trying to make a path of as many squares as you can. You are not allowed to return to a red square, and if you get 'boxed in' with no squares left to complete the quiz will also end.

Please note, as you name cities it will answer the largest city first, so if you are trying to answer a city in a square to the east but a larger city of that name occurs a square to the north, the north one will be answered.

Obviously, due to the layout and separation of squares it will be impossible to complete all of them.
