North America 10K+ City Coverage
DirectionsFirst choose a difficulty by typing ‘beg’, ‘int’, ‘adv, or ‘exp’ – Beginner is 500km radius, Intermediate 250km, Advanced 100km, and Expert 50km. Then, enter 10K+ population North American cities and all 10K+ population cities within that radius will automatically fill in. North America refers to the continent geographically, not politically.
hugequiz Premium members will see the 25 largest missed cities at the end of the quiz as large, purple markers.
Premium members can now also play a 3-hour time limit ‘custom’ coverage quiz of any distance from 25km to 1000km, simply enter the distance followed by a ‘.’ instead of choosing from one of the four levels, i.e. ‘350.’ Quiz score is not recorded for the custom coverage option.
Plenty of people have mentioned that Mackenzie County is one of the last ones you’ll find in Canada. But why is an entire county being counted as a city? Canada’s definitions on the different types of municipalities is weird, but it seems that the specialized ones (like Mackenzie and Wood Buffalo) are really counting the populations of multiple different settlements, and aren’t really individual cities/towns.
I kind of go by the source city, citypopulation.de for what is categorized as a ‘city’… in this case it does include specialized municipalities, for example:
https://www.top10cities.net/country/canada-alberta-admin.php
Strathcona County is included in the top ten cities list there.
Got 5822 int wow!
everyone talking about canada, but what is that city in central baja and northeast nicaragua or honduras

I have 1 city remaining; it doesn’t belong to a country, What city am I missing?
It might be in Greenland or a Colombia island in the Caribbean.
No, it said every country completed with my last country being Canada. I made sure I typed in Nuuk(DEN) and San Andres (COL).
Ah got it fixed. Reload and hold CTRL while clicking refresh. Had a bad abbreviation for Belize.
It says that there are cities from Colombia on the quiz, and I can get 100%, but looking at the map it doesn’t look like there are any cities IN Colombia, which might be a coding error or I’m looking in the wrong place, but I don’t know for sure
there is one, it’s not on the Colombia mainland, it’s on an island therefore it’s in NA geographically
If you’re stuck on canada, try Prince Rupert.
what country is COL? maybe a Colombian territory in North America?
correct Colombian area in North America geographically
the town is off the coast of Nicaragua, think along the lines of a GTA town name
If you’re stuck in Canada on Intermediate, try Prince George, Prince Rupert, Nelson, Kamloops (British Columbia)
Grande Prairie, Mackenzie, County, Wood Buffalo (Alberta)
Thompson (Manitoba)
Greater Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Timmins (Ontario)
La Tuque, Septiles, Rimouski (Quebec)
Grand Falls (N.L.), and Cape Breton (Nova Scotia)
I hope this is helpful!

This doesn’t work at all in Nova Scotia because it’s all towns and municipalities. So we should be counting Glace Bay, Kentville, Sydney, and New Glasgow, but because they’re not classified as cities they don’t count. And no one would call the Region of Queens municipality a “city”. Also lumping all of HRM together means that we’re not counting Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, and Sackville separately, while in New Brunswick we are counting Moncton, Dieppe, and Riverview separately.
yeah i’ll switch to Population Centres for NS.
do anchorage, whitehorse, yellowknife, prince rupert, prince george, vancouver, calgary, edmonton, winnipeg, thunder bay, toronto, sudbury, cape breton, st john, st johns, montreal, quebec, septiles, wood buffalo to complete canada
I’m missing something in the US; the only area that isn’t covered is eastern Montana, but I tried everything there.
Regina CA covers
billings
I’m so lost on the last one in Canada. I got Thompson, Wood Buffalo, Whitehorse, Yellowknife, Cold Lake, Thunder Bay, Sept-Iles…..
try Timmins
why would honolulu hawaii not work, it worked in the world version for 50k+ population cities, but not this 10k+ population quiz
per directions this is North America geographically, not politically. Geographically Hawaii is Oceania.
I can not find the last one in Canada, have any idea which one it is?
probably thompson, that’s the one I struggled with and it’s very isolated in the north of manitoba
same
95th, couldn’t find the last 3 cities in canada
Same
fort mcmurray, AB doesn’t work for me
I believe it is an Urban Service Area and not classified as a city
It named after the urban service area, wood buffalo
Wood Buffalo is actually a Regional Municipality, which are included.
alot of cites missing
10K+ cities only per the directions. City populations are city proper, not metro/urban areas.
