Directions

First choose a difficulty by typing ‘beg’, ‘int’, ‘adv, or ‘exp’ – Beginner is 10 degrees, Intermediate 5 degrees, Advanced 2.5 degrees, and Expert 1 degree. A grid of your chosen square size will be placed randomly on the map. Then, enter the largest South American city (min 50K population) in each grid square of the size based on your difficulty. Green squares contain answers.

South America Grid Top 5 Challenge

Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 10-degree grid, hard is a 5-degree grid. Then, try to name the largest South American cities (min 50K population) in each square IN ORDER. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period).

The squares will start with '0/5' (or maybe fewer cities if less exist in that square). Click on a square and enter the largest city in that square not yet answered (so, the largest city if you have yet to answer a city in that square). You will then have '1/5' and need to click on that square to name the 2nd largest city, and so on until you complete all the cities up to 5 (or less if less exist). If you name an incorrect city in a square it becomes 'locked' and turns red and you can no longer accumulate cities in that square.

You receive 1 point for the largest city in a square, 2 for the 2nd largest, and so on.

At the end of the quiz the largest remaining city you haven't named will be shown in each square.

South America Circle Radius Population Challenge

The object of this quiz is to adjust each circle's radius so it contains the target population shown at the right but ONLY within South America. When you click Start you will be shown a marker on a random populated South America grid square (courtesy of https://human-settlement.emergency.copernicus.eu/index.php). Also you will see an adjustable circle of radius 500 km to start. Adjust the circle's radius by dragging it until it contains the target number of people shown - this target will be between 5 and 100 million people. Then click submit. You are scored on how close your circle's population is to the target.

Santa Cruz is larger than those by city proper. You are only answering the largest city in each square too.

I love the random grids! Any chance of getting continental random grids for the ones that don’t have them (N Am and I think Oceania)?
