First choose a state and grid size by typing the state abbreviation followed by either ‘1’ or ‘2’ (‘1’ is easier with grid squares twice the size). A grid will be placed on the map in the state you chose. Then, double click on the grid square with the highest population within it. The highest-population remaining square will give you 100 points, all the way down to 0 for the one with the smallest population. Try to obtain the most points by successively double-clicking on the highest-populated grid square.

This quiz uses extremely small census blocks to split up populations as far as they can be split according to the US census – so the population in each square will be very accurate based on how many people actually live within the boundaries of the grid lines.
