Name the US states in order from west to east based on their westernmost point on land. PLEASE NOTE – this quiz was created using a highly detailed boundary file from the census – although a longitude line may be generally the ‘boundary’, they aren’t exact, therefore all states with western borders on a longitude line won’t all be equal, as their westernmost point isn’t exactly on that line.

Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. Then, try to name the LARGEST city in each grid square which fits the category label for each square. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period). US Circle Population Selection Challenge

The object of this quiz is to click on the circle containing the largest population. When you begin you'll be shown 2 circles on the map with radii between 10 and 250 miles which do not intersect. Click on the one with the larger population within it (based on US census tract info) then 'Submit' - if you are correct you'll move on. One incorrect round and the quiz is over. Every 5 rounds the number of circles on the map will increase by 1. Try to build the longest streak of correct circles. Circles displayed will always be non-intersecting.

NOTE: You may have to zoom out to see all circles, occasionally a AK/HI circle will be included. Also, only population within the US is included in the total, any Canada/Mexico coverage counts as 0 population within the circle.

Canada Circle Radius Population Challenge

The object of this quiz is to adjust each circle's radius so it contains the target population shown at the right. When you click Start you will be shown a marker on a random Canada dissemination area (there are over 55K dissemination areas across Canada, the smallest census tabulation area). Also you will see an adjustable circle of radius 100 km to start. Adjust the circle's radius by dragging it until it contains the target number of people shown - this target will be between 10K and 5 million people. Then click submit. You are scored on how close your circle's population is to the target. Circle population is tallied by totaling all output areas within that circle.

What on earth is 28? I tried all the states on the Mississippi and got nothing.
