World 20 Circle Population Challenge

Directions

The object of this quiz is to place 20 circles of radius 1000 km on the map so that they contain the largest total population.

When you begin you’ll be given a 1000-km radius circle centered on the map. Move it using the mouse and click SUBMIT. You will be given a score for that circle corresponding to the total population contained within it based on world population density at https://human-settlement.emergency.copernicus.eu/index.php. Try to complete all 20 circles with the highest total score.

Any INTERSECTING areas are only counted one time, so no population will be counted more than once.

The object of this quiz is to adjust each circle's diameter so it splits the circle's population as evenly as possible. When you click Start you will be shown a marker on a random world location. Also you will see an circle between 500 and 2500 km radius. Adjust the diameter by rotating it using the endpoints, trying to split the halves into equal populations. Then click submit. Scoring is based on 100 points for each correct (or blank) square, and 5 points are subtracted for every second used on the quiz. So you are rewarded for getting squares quickly, however be careful as not to name a country which doesn't qualify for an open cell.

NAMING NOTE: You must type a '.' (period) after a country name or abbreviation to submit it, to prevent entering a country you don't want to (i.e. Guinea when you want to enter Guinea Bissau). For country naming purposes, the following names are used: Cote d'Ivoire, Timor-Leste.

Like this quiz, there are several quizzes where the Start green button just doesnt appear. The favorite button also seems to slide behind the black right side. There is some glitch in a lot of quizzes
