World Bordering Countries Closest Alphabetically
DirectionsName the pairs of countries which border and are closest alphabetically based on their full common English name (see NAMING NOTE at bottom regarding a few countries). By closest, I’m putting the most weight on the difference between the first letters, then on the 2nd, etc. Number of letters apart the first letters of each country are is shown.
Dependent territories included as part of their countries. Borders included over man-made land, but not bridges/tunnels. Enter countries one after the other in either order, i.e. ‘FranceGermany’ or ‘USCanada’ – use the following abbreviations for answering these countries (however the A-Z is NOT based on these abbreviations): US, UK, DRC, CAR, UAE, and just ‘Congo’ for Republic of the Congo.
NAMING NOTE: For the purposes of sorting countries A-Z, the following country names are used:

Perhaps I’m misreading the directions, but how does Morocco-Mauritania not work? Mauritania touches Western Sahara. Isn’t Western Sahara considered a territory of Morocco?
It’s disputed, so Mauritania-Morocco are not considered a border in this or my other border quizzes.
Colombia-Ecuador? Saudi Arabia-UAE? Rwanda-Tanzania? Great quiz, although I did think I had lost the ability to count and/or alphabetize there for a bit!
DRC-Burundi
those all are two apart but miss the tiebraker which is the next letter. Colombia-Ecuador is actually 51st place.
Another great idea for a quiz. Feels like there should be far more answers in the Balkans than there actually are.
