World 50K+ Population Coverage
DirectionsFirst choose a level by typing ‘beg’, ‘int’, ‘adv’ or ‘exp’ – beginner is 50,000,000, intermediate is 10,000,000, advanced is 5,000,000 and expert 1,000,000. Then, begin naming cities. All cities of 50K+ population starting with the city you chose and moving outward will begin filling in until you’ve hit a total population equal to or greater than your chosen level’s threshold. For example, if you choose ‘int’ – the threshold is 10 million. If you choose ‘paris’, then Paris will fill in and because its population is under 10 million, successive cities moving outward from Paris will fill in until the total population reaches at least 10 million. If you chose Tokyo, only it would fill in as its population already meets your threshold.
hugequiz Premium members will see the 25 largest missed cities at the end of the quiz as large, purple markers.
Premium members can now also play a 3-hour time limit ‘custom’ coverage quiz of any population from 500,000 to 100,000,000, simply enter the population followed by a ‘.’ instead of choosing from one of the four levels, i.e. ‘750000.’ Quiz score is not recorded for the custom coverage option.

Why is there less cities now than before? it messes up the leaderboards
It won’t take long before there are more again – the city population figures are constantly being updated.
What if you did this type of quiz, but instead of completing countries you completed letters. You’d see there were 5 “A” cities left, 10 “B”, etc., as well as the total population percent completion. Something a bit different from both the population coverage and the letter-based quizzes.
But I do wonder if there’s extra 0s in the instructions — 50,000,000 should surely be 50k?
no, 50M is the population total for beginner level. a higher total means it’s easier. is that what you were referring to?
Love the new custom feature, I have often thought it would be nice to be able to choose all countries over a threshold!
Though beginner level, i finished all countries, except china, but that does not matter. china does not count, I hate china. I had to cheat for china
Why would you admit to cheating in order to get the highest score, lol? What’s the point?
This is the only quiz I’ve tried so far, but I’m still able to type and get cities accepted with it being a premium only this week.

I can’t see the map either as It’s not free this week, but I’m able to type cities and complete countries regardless.
oh well i guess that’s fine, not as fun 🙂 as long as the map doesn’t load I don’t get charged for it loading.

actually per my population source (citypopulation.de) the city proper is under 50k
Muscat has a population of almost 800k. You’re source is incorrect.
Muscat’s city proper is tiny. Almost all of the population lives in the surrounding area. It is similar to New Delhi with a 250k population due to only a small part of it actually being New Delhi and the 20M+ people living in just Delhi.

At least on intermediate and advanced levels (I didn’t try the others), some large cities like Moscow and Mumbai don’t trigger any other coverage, just one dot for the city itself.

Ponta Delgada and Raqqa, Syria dont have 50K?
i have Ponta Delgada at just over 40K, and had raqqa under a different spelling – use ‘Ar Raqqa’ now.
