Thanks. On previous quizzes it was a +/- 80.000 town but I found it missing on this one. Maybe it has changed status or was merged with some other population centers.
You’re both quite right. Dartford was listed as an ‘urban area’ in the 2001 census (pop. 56, 818), but failed to qualify as a ‘built-up area’ according to the criteria used in the 2011 census, hence it’s exclusion (it looks as though the pop. was shifted to the neighbouring London borough of Bexley, which grew by a similar amount) – maddening, but there you go.
Thanks Meanvarus. Another town that vanished from the quiz was Waterlooville… the closest places we get is Havant and Horndean, the latter having a suspicious high population which makes me think that it includes Waterlooville.
citypopulation has Dartford only listed as a district and not under the cities/towns lists for the most recent census data.
