Largest Cities By Time Zone – Choose Number
DirectionsFirst enter ‘1.’ (with the period), ‘3’, ‘5’ or ’10’ – then enter the largest number of cities (in some cases towns or another type of small place, sometimes even an atoll/island name if no official settlements) in each time zone based on the number you chose. Population (occasionally an estimate) and time zone shown. Whether a time zone has daylights savings is not considered for purposes of this quiz. For time zones with less than the number of places you chose, there will be less answers than for other time zones. Any ties are broken with by alphabetical rank.
I think there might be a bug. I got in the 220-250 range on the 10 per time zone twice now, but never get any missed cities and don’t appear on the high scores list ):
The first time I ran out of time and the second time I deliberately pressed ‘end quiz’ early, but same result
It’s working for me, did you click OK on the box that comes up when you click End Quiz to verify you wanted to end it?
very many cities have the incorrect time zone listed: Istanbul, Moscow, St. Petersburg should be UTC+3 instead of +4, Yekaterinburg and Ufa +5 instead of +6, Chita and Yakutsk +9 instead of +10, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk +11 instead of +12 etc.
also some cities seem to be missing like Nukualofa is +13 but that time zone is completely absent for some reason
and there are some places listed with 0 population
Ah – looks like an issue with the Google Time Zone API? I’m reaching out to them to see if it can be fixed.
maybe it’s just old data because 10 years ago European Russia was +4 Turkey was +2 but now both are +3
