MLB Batters 10×10 Blackout
DirectionsThe object of this game is to fill all 100 squares in the grid by naming players who meet the qualifications listed across the top for the teams shown in the cells. You MUST enter full player names, last names won’t cut it (makes it a bit too easy). This quiz only uses players with at least one hit for each franchise.
Stats along the top are only FOR THAT TEAM and FOR THE PLAYER’S CAREER (i.e. not an individual season, that player’s entire career with that team). So if the top line has ’50-99 HR’ and the cell shows the Yankees you are looking for players who had 50-99 HR for the Yankees during their entire time with the Yankees. Positions such as ‘1B’ and ‘Catcher’ refer to players who played that defensive position the most among all the positions they may have played.
Teams and stats are randomized each time quiz is loaded. Occasionally a cell may not have a qualifying answer in which case it will appear blank and be a gimme.
hugequiz Premium members will see missed answers in red. Missed answers will be the player with the most hits for that team who qualifies for that cell.
I like this quiz a lot, thanks!
I like this format, are you considering other stat categories (such as walks, HBPs, Ks)?
Probably not – I mean, batters with a lot of hits are generally going to also be the ones with lots of HBP, walks, Ks etc so you’re naming pretty much the same group of people.
Sometimes one category will only register some, but not all correct answers. For example: Angels Gold Glove winner didn’t accept Darin Erstad, Bengie Molina or Mike Trout but it accepted Orlando Cabrera.
Fixing Erstad and Molina – Trout hasn’t won one.
Why doesn’t Darin Erstad pop up as an Angels outfielder?
Per directions – positions are only for the position they played the most games at total – he shows as a 1B in this case.
This is fantastic but pitchers not being an option for a lot of categories isn’t great. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t.
Because of how I gathered the stats it was much easier to make separate quizzes for batters and pitchers – here’s the pitchers one:

Mike Piazza didn’t pop as a catcher for the Marlins. It was only five games in the middle of a season, might be why it was missed.
yeah I think it needed to be a minimum number of games to qualify for a primary defensive position on baseball-reference
kevin appier doesn’t pop up for the Royals for last name that starts with A
This is only batters
I like this quiz even better than the 5×5 one. Thanks for adding it
next up 50×50! kidding 🙂
