Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. Then, try to name the LARGEST city in each grid square which fits the category label for each square. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period). You are given a score from 0 to 100 based on your answer's population compared to the largest city accepted in that square (100 being you named the largest city).
LETTER: means the city starts with that letter.
NUMBER RANGE: (such as 2-5, 10+) means the city contains that many letters (excluding spaces and special characters).
POPULATION RANGE: (such as 50-100K) means the city has that range for its population.
2+ WORDS means the city name has 2 or more words (words denoted by a space or hyphen).
AK and HI are NOT included in this quiz as they often have grid squares with only one answer for this quiz.
At the end of the quiz the largest population missed answer will show in each unanswered square, and for those answered the largest city will be listed if you didn't answer it.
Why doesn’t Honolulu exist?
Not in NA geographically…it’s part of Oceania.
The square in the expert level referring to Panama with population 62,300 is currently referring to the city of Nueva Esperanza. This is being confused with the Nueva Esperanza which is east of Panama city which is the one which actually has the population of 62,300. The Nueva Esperanza in Colon province meanwhile has a minimal population. The square should therefore be Aguadulce or Penonome instead.
Notably, Nueva Esperanza can be seen in the population coverage for North America but doesn’t appear in the ‘central america & caribbean largest cities’ despite clearly being in central america. I am confused what the name is as no alternate names are given on geonames.org and on citypopulation.de it shows the city in the correct spot.
If somebody with premium could inform what the square on expert directly north of Chitre and directly west of Panama would be that would be great.
I’ve fixed this – hadn’t updated it on the NA dataset.
Thanks1 For some reason I still can’t figure out what is in that square, and the city is still visible in the same spot in the NA 10k+ city coverage quiz.

What city in Mexico is on the Chihuahua, Coahuila border for the advanced grid south of Big Bend National Park? I tried typing Ojinaga, but it won’t take it. I am playing On advanced difficulty.
me too but i’m on beginner
How many 1×1 squares are blank on the advanced difficulty of this quiz?
It’s counting cities by Area, not by Population. That’s the only way Jacksonville is larger than Atlanta.
Jacksonville city proper is larger than Atlanta city proper in terms of population.
what is the beginner square with tennessee?
Jacksonville.
Chalmette Louisiana is the most populated city in the very far south east louisiana grid but doesnt work.
that’s a Census Designated Place, not a city, so it’s not in the quiz
How does Duluth have larger pop than Minneapolis
it doesn’t. the beginner square there is Winnipeg
I am typing Billings in but it won’t go in the grid on beginner
read the directions…you are only answering the largest city in each square.
what city is bigger than Billings in the Beginner square?
fort collins, co. i took me a while to think of it
This quiz confuses me. I’m not sure how it’s counting Indianapolis as having a larger population than Atlanta. Indy is 6 million.Unless it isn’t largest by population but is largest by I dunno land area or something…
Indy has a bit larger city proper population than Atlanta
I live in one of the places that’s not in any grid 🙁
