Grand Funk?
think I’m leaving them out…they had a good amount of success with 4 members including a number of their RIAA certifications.
Ronettes? Supremes? Traffic? Not sure if any of them should be included but are ideas
Ronettes and Supremes wouldn’t have qualified…Traffic was often not a trio and had four members inducted into the Hall of Fame so left them out.
stray cats
thompson twins
both only had 1.5.
Mike + The Mechanics? GENESIS?!?!? (by far had the most certs as a trio, both Abacab and Invisible Touch were released as a trio)
adding Genesis.
Like Genesis, Depeche Mode formed as a quartet, but the vast majority of their success was as a trio.
I think they were 4 for almost 15 years though. I don’t think they’re generally regarded as a trio.
Violator (which includes their two biggest US hits, “Personal Jesus” and “Enjoy the Silence”) was recorded as a trio.
I thought they formed as a quartet, then became a trio when Vince Clarke left in 1981…
Even after EIGHT YEARS, neither band has gotten the last half a million needed? SHEESH!
if i forgot anyone with 2+ certifications who should be on this list, let me know.
