Directions

Fill in the 25 squares with 3 1K+ UK cities based on the categories in the top row and the geographical location given in the cell. For example, if you are looking at a cell with ‘South East England’ in its row, and ‘2+ Words’ in the column, that cell can be filled in with ‘Milton Keynes.’

Occasionally a cell may not have any qualifying answer, in which case it will be filled in bright green and be a gimme. Cells with two answers left will have a very dark green background, those with one answer left more of an evergreen shade, and finally bright green for those which have been completed. Some cells with only 1 or 2 valid answers will start with a green shade corresponding to how many answers are left.

The possible regions of the UK for the rows are: West Midlands, Scotland, Yorkshire and the Humber, North West England, South West England, East Midlands, Wales/Cymru, Northern Ireland, North East England, South East England and East of England.

UK Circle Radius Population Challenge

The object of this quiz is to adjust each circle's radius so it contains the target population shown at the right. When you click Start you will be shown a marker on a random UK output area (there are over 200K output areas - also called Data Zones in Scotland and N Ireland - across the UK, the smallest census tabulation area). Also you will see an adjustable circle of radius 100 km to start. Adjust the circle's radius by dragging it until it contains the target number of people shown - this target will be between 25K and 5 million people. Then click submit. You are scored on how close your circle's population is to the target. Circle population is tallied by totaling all output areas within that circle.

NOTE - This quiz does NOT include any people in Ireland or other countries outside the UK, you are only trying to total the target number of people within the UK.

Seems to have Swansea as one of the top 3 largest cities in Northern Ireland!

just tested it, it’s not marked in NI…maybe you were looking at the wrong cell name?
