US Cities Top 3 Blackout

Fill in the 25 squares with the top three (in terms of population, or less if less than 3 qualify) US cities based on the categories in the top row and the geographical location given in the cell. For example, if you are looking at a cell with ‘CA’ in its row, and ‘2+ Words’ in the column, that cell can be filled in with ‘San Jose’ as San Jose is one of the 3 largest 2+ Words cities in CA. When a cell is completed it fills in green.

Northeast, South, Midwest and West divisions are per the US Census Bureau’s regions. West includes AK & HI.

Occasionally a cell may not have any qualifying answer, in which case it will be filled in bright green and be a gimme. Cells with two answers left will have a very dark green background, those with one answer left more of an evergreen shade, and finally bright green for those which have been completed. Some cells with only 1 or 2 valid answers will start with a green shade corresponding to how many answers are left.

The object of this quiz is to place 10 circles of radius 100 miles on the map so that they contain the largest total population.

When you begin you'll be given a 100-mile radius circle centered on the map. Move it using the mouse and click SUBMIT. You will be given a score for that circle corresponding to the total population among all US census tracts within it (there are about 85K total US census tracts averaging about 4K people each). US 50K+ City Name Link Challenge

The object of this quiz is to pick a 50K+ US city to start, then name successive 50K+ cities such that the next city's first letter is the last letter of the current city and the next city is as close to the current city as possible. You must name cities in the format 'City, State' with the state abbreviation following the city.

For example, you start with 'Chicago, IL' - you are now trying to name a city starting with 'O' (the last letter of 'Chicago') which is closest to Chicago. If you answer 'Omaha, NE' - now you are trying to name the closest city to Omaha which starts with a 'A' and so on.

The quiz ends at the 25th city from the starting one. You get 100 points for naming the closest city on each step, and they decline based on the distance your city was from the closest. You get 15 minutes to complete the quiz.

US City Grid Blackout Largest City Challenge

Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. Then, try to name the LARGEST city in each grid square which fits the category label for each square. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period). You are given a score from 0 to 100 based on your answer's population compared to the largest city accepted in that square (100 being you named the largest city).

LETTER: means the city starts with that letter.
NUMBER RANGE: (such as 2-5, 10+) means the city contains that many letters (excluding spaces and special characters).
POPULATION RANGE: (such as 50-100K) means the city has that range for its population.
2+ WORDS means the city name has 2 or more words (words denoted by a space or hyphen).

AK and HI are NOT included in this quiz as they often have grid squares with only one answer for this quiz.

At the end of the quiz the largest population missed answer will show in each unanswered square, and for those answered the largest city will be listed if you didn't answer it.

Per directions only the 3 largest which qualify for each cell are answers.
