Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. A grid will be placed randomly on the map. Then, try to name the 1st-5th largest city in each square, depending on what the square label displays (so if the label says '3rd Largest' you are trying to name the 3rd largest city in that square). To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period). You are given a score from 0 to 100 based on your answer's population compared to the target city accepted in that square (100 being you named the correct city).
AK and HI are NOT included in this quiz as they often have grid squares with only one answer for this quiz.
At the end of the quiz the target city will show in each unanswered square.
Doesn’t seem like this one is working anymore? I got a score of -153 after 5 cities guessed and the quiz didn’t end.
Odd – I just tried it and it worked fine.
Leesburg, VA is less than 50k, I believe. Not trying to be rude. It’s just that the instructions say that the cities we guess will be between 50k-100k.
Yeah maybe when I made the quiz it had an estimated pop of just over 50K.
I think this one is a bit extreme. Would it make sense to do a “mid-size” cities quiz for, say, the 100k-250k range, and a “large” cities quiz for 250k+?
Agreed. Very fun quiz, but I only knew where I was if I was lucky enough to come across a sign that gave the name of the city/town.
