Upon clicking START you will be presented with a 5×5 grid of US states.

The object of this quiz is to choose the top 3 in the given category for the states shown in the grid. When you begin you’ll be given 25 different states plus a category to name the top 3 in, which will display just above the grid. For example, if the category says ‘Top 3 Largest Area’ you are to click on the 3 states with the largest area. If it says ‘Top 3 Smallest Max Elevation’ you are to click on the 3 states whose max elevation is the lowest. You can deselect the first or second state you chose on by re-clicking it, but when you choose the 3rd state they will be submitted, removed from the grid, and you will get a score from 0-100 based on how close your set of 3 comes to the optimum set of 3 (which will be shown as a ‘Rank’ on top out of the # of possible sets of 3 for the last choice). When you’ve answered all 8 sets of 3 leaving only 1 state the quiz is over. You get a 100 points bonus for completing the sets making for a total possible score of 2500.

You must name cities in the format 'City, State' with the state abbreviation following the city.

US City Grid Blackout Largest City Challenge

Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. Then, try to name the LARGEST city in each grid square which fits the category label for each square. To name a city, you must first click on the grid square to make it have a GREEN border. Then, type in the city answer for that square followed by a '.' (a period). You are given a score from 0 to 100 based on your answer's population compared to the largest city accepted in that square (100 being you named the largest city).

LETTER: means the city starts with that letter.
NUMBER RANGE: (such as 2-5, 10+) means the city contains that many letters (excluding spaces and special characters).
POPULATION RANGE: (such as 50-100K) means the city has that range for its population.
2+ WORDS means the city name has 2 or more words (words denoted by a space or hyphen).

AK and HI are NOT included in this quiz as they often have grid squares with only one answer for this quiz.

At the end of the quiz the largest population missed answer will show in each unanswered square, and for those answered the largest city will be listed if you didn't answer it.

US Circle Population Selection Challenge

The object of this quiz is to click on the circle containing the largest population. When you begin you'll be shown 2 circles on the map with radii between 10 and 250 miles which do not intersect. Click on the one with the larger population within it (based on US census tract info) then 'Submit' - if you are correct you'll move on. One incorrect round and the quiz is over. Every 5 rounds the number of circles on the map will increase by 1. Try to build the longest streak of correct circles. Circles displayed will always be non-intersecting.

NOTE: You may have to zoom out to see all circles, occasionally a AK/HI circle will be included. Also, only population within the US is included in the total, any Canada/Mexico coverage counts as 0 population within the circle.
