Interesting how certain languages (Turkish, Azeri, Chechen, Kazakh) are considered European languages while languages in the same geographic areas and with similar origins (Armenian, Georgian, etc) aren’t.

Turkey has some land firmly in Europe, and Chechnya and the North Caucasus are in Europe as well. There are enough crossover Azeri and Kazakh speakers in the European parts of Russia that they could be argued as European as well. I know there’s debate over whether the South Caucasus (Georgia and Armenia) are culturally European, but geographically they’re not, and they don’t have as many speakers in Europe.

Surely there are more than 100K native Arabic speakers in Europe.
