Billboard Weekly Hot 100 ‘And The’ Artists
DirectionsName the bands featured on the Billboard Weekly Hot 100 which have ‘And The’ in their name. These names were based on how Billboard listed them on their site. Groups sorted by total cumulative weeks of all their songs in the top 100 charts. Object is most weeks, not groups. Do not type in the leading ‘The’ for the answers. I did not include duos or instances where the ‘and’ was separating two people or a list of individual artists.
Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers?
What about Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions?
Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention and Kid Creole & The Coconuts?
No way Frank Zappa charted any songs
1982.
“Valley Girl”, from the movie of the same name.
That would have charted as Frank and Moon Unit Zappa, or some permutation thereof.
Also, Iggy Pop & The Stooges?
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five?
just listed by Billboard as ‘Grandmaster Flash’
No DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince?
I didn’t include just duos where the ‘and’ was separating two people…i’ll make a note in the directions.
Is that why neither Morris Day and the Time or Martha and the Muffins are on this quiz, or did you just forget them?
Morris Day and the Time was just listed as ‘The Time’ on Billboard. Martha and the Muffins had no weekly 100 hits listed.
Is there a reason Bill Haley and the Comets is not on the list?
I was wondering the same thing about Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine…
Billboard lists them as ‘Bill Haley & His Comets’ and ‘Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine’ so no ‘the’ in there.
What about Florence + The Machine and Mike + The Mechanics? The plus sign represents ‘and’, so both should be in there.
adding these.
