First choose any Canada city by entering it and choosing it in the drop-down box. Then, name the largest Canada city in each 100 km circle/ring as the rings expand outward from your city of choice. The first circle will include your city of choice as a possible answer if it is the largest city in that area.

When you run out of time or end the quiz, you will see the current ring's correct answer at right (under 'Answer Stats' by your coordinates).

For example, if you choose 'Toronto' - you will be shown a circle of radius 100 km centered at Toronto. The object of this quiz is to adjust each circle's radius so it contains the target population shown at the right. When you click Start you will be shown a marker on a random Canada dissemination area (there are over 55K dissemination areas across Canada, the smallest census tabulation area). Also you will see an adjustable circle of radius 100 km to start. Adjust the circle's radius by dragging it until it contains the target number of people shown - this target will be between 10K and 5 million people. Then click submit. Canada Cities Grid Identifier Challenge

The object of this quiz is to double-click the grid square where cities are located (the centroid of the city is used). When you begin you will have a grid randomly placed with size 5 degrees latitude by 5 degrees longitude. You will be told which city to locate - simply double-click on that city's grid square and you will move on to the next city. Each time you go to a new city the squares are randomly redrawn and with a size 10% smaller. The first 10 cities will be 250K+, the next 10 100-250K, next 10 50-100K and the balance (until you run out of time or guess wrong) will be 25-50K. Canada Grid Path Challenge – All Cities

Choose a level by typing ‘beg’, ‘int’, ‘adv’, or ‘exp’ – beg level is 5 degree squares, int 2.5 degrees, adv 1 degree, and exp 0.5 degrees. Then, name any Canada city to start with by entering it (cities with the same name will choose the largest city of that name first). The grid square you are starting in will turn yellow - you now must name any city in any one of the adjacent grid squares (not including diagonal) - so any grid square directly north, south, east or west of the yellow one. Naming a city in one of these squares will turn your original square red and the current newly named city square yellow - continue in the same way trying to make a path of as many squares as you can. You are not allowed to return to a red square, and if you get 'boxed in' with no squares left to complete the quiz will also end.

Be aware that as you name cities it will answer the largest city first, so if you are trying to answer a city in a square to the east but a larger city of that name occurs a square to the north, the north one will be answered.

Obviously, due to the layout and separation of squares it will be impossible to complete all of them.

Canada Province/Territory Drawing Challenge

You'll be freehand drawing the provinces/territories of Canada. When the quiz loads on the right side you will be told which prov/terr to draw. To begin drawing a prov/terr, click Draw or right-click anywhere in the map to enter drawing mode. Click and drag the mouse to make an outline of the prov/terr. Release the mouse to 'close' the prov/terr and it will appear green. If happy and ready to submit, click submit or double-click the drawn prov/terr. Click erase or right-click the prov/terr to erase it and try again. You may have to wait a few moments for your score to calculate on larger prov/terr.

You have 15 min or 10K miles to travel the 48 states trying to total the highest total population of 50K+ cities visited. US 100 Mile Coverage Challenge

Choose any 5K+ US city (AK & HI not included), then continue naming 5K+ cities which are within 100 miles of any previously named city. Naming notes: many places have similar names. For example, “Jacksonville” is not unique. To choose Jacksonville, FL, simply type “jacksonvillefl”, and so on. Also some answers require typing in other answers you may not want to guess. In this case, if you want to answer “Virginia Beach, VA”, simply type it..”Virginia, MN” will not be chosen. If you want simply “Virginia” type ‘virginia.’ with the period at the end. NOTE that typing in “phoenix” will not answer Phoenix, AZ – so that means either there is another place in another state where you must put “phoenixaz”, or another city starting with “Phoenix”, which is the case in this example – so typing ‘phoenix.’ will get you your answer. Finally, in a couple cases there are multiple places of the same name in a single state. Madison, WI is an example. To choose the largest Madison (typically the one you want), type ‘madisonwi1’ – the rest are ‘madisonwi2’ and so on (need the state too as there are madison’s in other states) – this is quite rare. So basically, if the city isn’t coming up after you type the name, try adding a “.” after, or the state abbreviation, or in rare cases the state abbr plus a number.

US 100K+ Cities Direction Challenge

The object of this quiz is to name (see NAMING NOTE below) as many US 100K+ cities as possible starting from the position you choose without skipping cities moving in the opposite direction. For example, if you choose 'S' you 'start' at extreme southern US to begin you are aiming to name the most southern US 100K+ city, then the 2nd most southern, and so on as you move north. Naming correct cities increases the population counter - the object is to get the highest total population among all cities you name. However, once you move in a direction you can't name cities already passed by (i.e. covered in the blue shaded region).

NAMING NOTE: You must end each city name with a period - i.e. 'Dallas.' - this prevents naming a city whose name is a partial name of the city you want to answer. If you name a city that has multiple answers, only the closest upcoming one will be answered for you, so you won't name the farther away city from the one you are trying to guess.

You don't start with a ton of time, however there is a 30 second time bonus for naming the next city in order, and a 15 second bonus for naming the 2nd or 3rd next city in order. So if you name well you can accumulate a lot of extra time.

The object of this quiz is to click on 50K+ city locations as quickly and accurately as you can. You get 25 random US cities from among all US 50K+ cities. You will be scored based on Time, Distance, and Closest Cities. Closest Cities refers to how many cities (among ALL cities, not just 50K+ ones) are located closer to the actual city's location than where you clicked. Upon clicking START you will see cities listed one at a time in the upper right on the side of the map. Double-click where that city is as fast and accurately as possible. US Circle Population Selection Challenge

The object of this quiz is to click on the circle containing the largest population. When you begin you'll be shown 2 circles on the map with radii between 10 and 250 miles which do not intersect. Click on the one with the larger population within it (based on US census tract info) then 'Submit' - if you are correct you'll move on. One incorrect round and the quiz is over. Every 5 rounds the number of circles on the map will increase by 1. Try to build the longest streak of correct circles. Circles displayed will always be non-intersecting.

US Circle Radius Population Challenge

The object of this quiz is to adjust each circle's radius so it contains the target population shown at the right. When you click Start you will be shown a marker on a random US census tract (there are over 80K census tracts in the US). Also you will see an adjustable circle of radius 100 miles to start. Adjust the circle's radius by dragging it until it contains the target number of people shown - this target will be between 100K and 25 million people. Then click submit. You are scored on how close your circle's population is to the target. Circle population is tallied by totaling all census tracts (small census areas of average 4K population) within that circle.

US Cities Grid Identifier Challenge

The object of this quiz is to double-click the grid square where cities are located (the centroid of the city is used). When you begin you will have a grid randomly placed with size 5 degrees latitude by 5 degrees longitude. You will be told which city to locate - simply double-click on that city's grid square and you will move on to the next city. Each time you go to a new city the squares are randomly redrawn and with a size 10% smaller. Type 'easy' or 'hard' to begin the quiz. Easy is a 5-degree grid, hard is a 2.5-degree grid. Then, try to name the LARGEST city in each grid square which fits the category label for each square. US City Name Link Challenge

The object of this quiz is to pick a city to start, then name successive cities such that the next city's first letter is the last letter of the current city and the next city is as close to the current city as possible. You must name cities in the format 'City, State' with the state abbreviation following the city.

For example, you start with 'Chicago, IL' - you are now trying to name a city starting with 'O' (the last letter of 'Chicago') which is closest to Chicago. If you answer 'Oak Park, IL' - now you are trying to name the closest city to Oak Park which starts with a 'K' and so on.

The quiz ends at the 25th city from the starting one. You get 100 points for naming the closest city on each step, and they decline based on the distance your city was from the closest. You get 15 minutes to complete the quiz.

US Counties Placement Challenge – Choose State

First enter any state abbreviation. The map will then zoom in on that state and that state's counties will be displayed as green polygons you can drag. When you start dragging on a county it's name will appear to the right of the map. Move the counties to their correct locations in the state. You can 'lock' a county in place by double-clicking it. You will receive a score for each county based on how closely you placed the county to the exact location. Finish all counties or click End Quiz to finish.

Occasionally a county which may have multiple non-adjacent areas will only have the largest area appear as a polygon to place.

US Expanding Circle Population Challenge – Your Location

First enter a level by typing '5M', '2.5M', '1M', or '500K' - you begin with that population figure (shown by 'Population Remaining'...the bigger the number the easier the quiz). The quiz will center in on your location - you must have your browser's location feature on. A pink marker will be placed at this location.

The object of this quiz is to accumulate 'Population Gotten' by typing in US cities (see naming note below) moving outward from your marker without skipping cities. Any city skipped will count against your Population Remaining. Any city guessed correctly counts toward your Population Gotten. Population Gotten is your score for this quiz, this is the number you want to have as high as possible - it is the sum of the population of all your guesses.

Naming Note: You must add a '.' at the end of each city name for it to take - this is to prevent typing in another city name which is the first few letters of the city you wanted to type. There are a good number of these so to make it easiest I am simply requiring a '.' after each name you enter.

There are no time bonuses on this quiz.

A circle will be drawn going out to your last guess and showing that guess as a green marker and any missed cities that were closer as a red marker. All members can mouseover the green markers to see what their name, population and rank in terms of closeness to your location (i.e. #10 is 10th closest city). hugequiz Premium members can hover over the red markers as well to see the missed cities and their info.

US Expanding Circles Challenge – Your Location

First choose a level by typing '5.', '10', '25' or '50' (need to add the '.' with 5 so you can type 50 without choosing '5') - then name the largest city in the circle/ring of that distance range as the rings expand outward from your location. You need to have your browser's location function working or the quiz will not load.

You MUST have a city within the initial distance you choose for your level - so this quiz will not work if you are not within the US (or at least not within your level's distance of a US city).

When you run out of time or end the quiz, you will see the current ring's correct answer at right (under 'Answer Stats' by your coordinates).

For example, if you choose '10' - you will be shown a circle of radius 10 miles centered at your location. Naming the largest city in this circle will cause another 'ring' of radius 10 to appear outside that circle. You now need to name the largest city in that ring (but not within any previous circles/rings). If a city is not within the next ring of that distance, the ring will keep expanding by that distance until a city falls within it. So if a city doesn't fall within 20-30 miles (assuming your level is 10 miles), it will expand to be a 20-40 mile ring, then 20-50 mile and so on until a city is found within the ring.

US Google Street View State Streak Challenge

You will be presented with a random google street view image in a locality of 10K+ population somewhere in the US. Name the state (by entering its abbrevation) you are in within 2 minutes, trying to obtain the longest consecutive streak of states. If you guess an incorrect state the game will end and your score will be saved. You can then type ‘start’ to restart the quiz.

US Great Circle States Challenge

You begin the quiz with 25 different routes between cities listed in the table. The routes are chosen randomly from among all possible pairs of the 50 largest US cities plus the largest city in each state. No route will have less than 5 total states.

You are to name the states (using state abbreviations) in order you cross over when flying from the first city to the second. City routes are from the city centers NOT the airports. You are answering the states in order of first to last based on when you FIRST fly over them (occasionally you may fly over a state, then another, then the previous state again, do NOT list the first state twice).
